Pabda Mancher Paturi


Pabda manch / ompok pabo are very soft fish taste is very mild and sweet. It was cooked in various ways. Paturi is a kind of cooking where raw marinated fish is cooked on banana leaves wrap. This is the first time I tried to experiment pabda /ompok pabo fish in banana leaves. I am telling you it comes out so delicious. If you love hot spicy food this banana leaves flavored pabda mancher paturi is just awesome.


Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time : 50 to 60 minutes
Serves : 4 to 5

Ingredients: 
15 to 16 Baby pabda/ ompok pabo 
1 tsp garlic paste 
2 onion paste 
2 tbsp mustard paste 
1 chopped tomato
6 tbsp mustard oil 
½ tsp red chili paste or to taste
6 to 8 chopped green chilly or to taste
3 tbsp chopped coriander 
Salt to taste 
5 to 6  banana leaves 


Methods of Cooking :  In a bowl mix garlic paste, onion paste, mustard paste, mustard oil, red chilly paste, green chilly and salt. Mix well. Now marinate the baby pabda with mixture. Take a nonstick tawa or omlette pan, make a bed of banana leaves, now place the marinated pabda over the leaves in the pan as shown in the pics above. Top the fish with the leftover marinate. Now top it with chopped tomato and coriander. Now in a low flame put the tawa. Cover the tawa with another banana leaves. Now cook it for 10 minutes then remove the top banana leaf and cook for 25 to 30 minutes until the whole dish is dry and little charred in the base. Flip the top down with very soft hand as this fish are very tender, then cook the top side for 10 minutes. Your pabda mancher paturi is ready to serve with hot rice.
