Dahl Idli


Idli is a traditional breakfast in South Indian household. Dahi ildi is nothing but yogurt dipped idlis (steamed rice cake). Today sharing this delicious breakfast or yummy snacks for scorching summer days. It’s the best way to use leftover idlis. So if you have some leftover idlis or want to try it with fresh ones just go for it. Yummy creamy chilled yogurt with soft idli is a heavenly combo in fiery summer. I add some of my twist to make it yummier. Hope you all will like it. Enjoy Dahi idli.


Preparation time : 40 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Serves: 5 

Ingredients :
10  idili cut into bite size pieces or into four
2 cup yogurt 
¼ cup of milk/ water
4 tbsp fresh cream ( optional) 
16 fresh green curry leaves
½ tsp finely chopped ginger (optional)
2 whole red chilly
½ tsp mustard seed
¼ tsp fenugreek seed
½ tsp urad dal
1 tsp rasam powder 
½ tsp sugar (optional)
1 tsp black salt 
1/2 cup finely chopped coconut and peanuts
2 tsp oil
salt to taste

Methods of Cooking :
Take regular size idlis or you can make mini idlis for this recipe. Heat oil in pan then add broken red chili, urad dal mustard seed and fenugreek seed. Fry a little then add ginger, curry leaves, finely chopped coconut and peanuts. Fry all till they are crispy. Now put off the flame. Take chilled yogurt add milk or water whatever using. Then add fresh cream, black salt, sugar, rasam powder and salt. Mix well. Now add the fried crispy coconut peanut mixture. Mix well with the beaten yogurt. Let it rest in your refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then plate the idlis and top them with creamy yummy chilled yogurt mixture. If you want more heat, then add some chopped green chilly. Super delicious and yummy refreshing breakfast for summer days Dahi idli is ready to relish.
